We are a cardiovascular research lab based at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK. We pride ourselves on our high quality science and our inclusive research environment.
About Us
Our Mission
Our mission is to unravel the complex interplay between extracellular matrix stiffening and vascular smooth muscle cells in cardiovascular disease and ageing. We work on vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), the most prevalent cell type of large arteries. Using our polyacrylamide hydrogel cell-culture system to mimic arterial stiffness in the lab, we examine the way VSMCs respond to changes in their extracellular environment caused by ageing and disease.
We collaborate with a many of our UEA colleagues and other research groups both nationally and internationally. We also host undergraduate and masters students from the schools of Biology and Pharmacy at UEA.
